IMS Increasing Waterloo-based Workforce Effective Immediately.
Waterloo, Ontario, Canada — January 27, 2020 -
IMS, a Trak Global Group company and a global leader in insurance telematics and mobility services, is pleased to announce the official opening of a new North American headquarter office in the David Johnston Research + Technology Park (R+T Park), adjacent to the University of Waterloo.
“This is a wonderful new office for the expanding IMS team. Designed as a modern and collaborative, open concept environment, it sets the tone perfectly for our new direction and future growth. With proximity to the University of Waterloo and other leading technology companies, R+T Park is a perfect home for IMS,” said Nino Tarantino, – CEO, IMS (Americas).
As part of the move to this newly-designed facility at 445 Wes Graham Way, IMS is immediately increasing its Waterloo-based workforce with a focus on Engineering and Development roles, while also funding expanded occupancy within its new space to support additional growth. This new facility sets the company alongside other world-class technology companies, startups, and research institutes in R+T Park.
Located on the North Campus of the University of Waterloo, the R+T Park was a natural choice for IMS due to the proximity to a strong pool of highly-skilled, professional talent, and the opportunities for collaboration with the university. The company also highlighted the opportunity to design a brand new, modern office that inspires even more collaboration, with proximity to convenient amenities, such as the ION light rail, walking and biking trails, the Park’s recreation leagues, and incumbent technology ecosystem.
“It’s always exciting to welcome world-class technology companies like IMS into R+T Park,” said Mike Pereira, Manager, David Johnston Research + Technology Park. “Their focus on and intersection of new technologies and emerging trends in mobility make them a natural fit for R+T Park and the University of Waterloo. I look forward to working with them and watching them grow.”
This follows on IMS’ prior announcement that Trak Global Group (TGG), the UK’s leading telematics business which acquired the firm at the end of 2018, would be supported by a substantial minority investment by Three Hill Partners in September 2019, together supporting the stage for strong global growth and expansion. The Waterloo office will grow the company’s workforce with an immediate role focus on mobile app developers, along with automation testers, database developers and business analysts.
As part of their recruitment efforts, IMS will be participating in Communitech Tech Jam on Wednesday March 4. In the meantime, interested job applicants can review and immediately apply for roles at: https://www.intellimec.com/careers

“Whether you’re looking at the catered cafeteria, the games room, new gym or the overall ambient and collaborative working environment, you see an environment that supports a positive experience, where employees enjoy coming to work and creating amazing technology. With so many convenient amenities, like walking and biking trails, recreation leagues, and so on, R+T Park offers an ideal location for IMS.”
