Safety ProductsAutoPrism™AutoPrism is an in-vehicle event analysis and recording system developed by IMS for vehicle/driver monitoring and accident reconstruction. The self-contained AutoPrism continually logs information from visual, audio, occupant, and vehicle sensors. Upon detection of an impact, or when manually triggered by the driver, the system continues to record for several seconds and then transfers the captured data to a non-volatile memory unit (the SmartKey) for easy extraction and review at a later time. This allows users or accident investigators to reconstruct the sequence of events before, during and after an accident.This data can be valuable evidence when settling or defending insurance claims, civil suits, or criminal charges. An accident "snapshot" consists of a video clip of the accident, vehicle position (GPS latitude/longitude), vehicle speed/heading and a complete log of vehicle sensors (e.g. pedal position, speed, acceleration, engine temperature, etc.). When used together with IMS' PrismPlayer playback software, the "snapshot" provides a complete multi-media recording of an incident, which can be replayed, reviewed, and interrogated by taking the SmartKey out of the AutoPrism and plugging it into a personal computer In addition to acting as an accident snapshot recorder, the AutoPrism also allows vehicle owners to track the usage of their vehicle. The PrismPlayer software is a valuable vehicle usage management tool, which provides an overview of the daily usage of a fleet vehicle and allows the owner to better manage vehicle maintenance using actual usage information and data. Using the accompanying SmartKey, owners can review a map route of where, when and how the vehicle was driven. This can be an invaluable resource for parents wishing to monitor their children's vehicle usage, or company managers such as fleet owners (i.e. trucks, taxis, rental cars) who wish to review usage of company vehicles.
Data is transferred between the AutoPrism in the vehicle, and the PrismPlayer software using the removable USB memory key, or via a wireless data link. The AutoPrism also allows vehicle owners to track the usage of their vehicle. In case of a crash the AutoPrism is capable of transmitting, via satellite, a video stream of the crash, a report on the number of occupants in the car, and the location and the speed of the vehicle.
